The fight's comic book story was serialized in the weekly magazine "Dragon Ball Super", which is published by Shueisha in Japan.

The fight was published in its entirety for the first time in "Dragon Ball Super" #5 and included as an extra chapter in "Dragon Ball Z" issue #155.

It was also adapted in "Dragon Ball Z" episode 56.

In 2006, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the anime series, Bandai Entertainment published a set of action figures of Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Buu based on the anime's first 16-episode arc.

The first was released as a result of fan demand in June 2006, as part of their promotion of the "Dragon Ball Z: Goku's True Power" feature-length film, with the remaining sets released in September.

As of August 2007, all 16 sets were released in North America by FUNimation Entertainment.

In February 2013, a different set of action figures of Vegeta and Gohan was released by Hasbro.

The set is called "Dragon Ball Z Z Universe Super Saiyan Super Saiyan Warrior Set", and was released only in the USA.

The first manga adaptation of the film, titled , written by Akira Toriyama and illustrated by artist Shigenori Soejima, was serialized in "Weekly Shōnen Jump" from January 4 to December 25, 2006.

It is composed of 10 "tankōbon" volumes.

The first volume was released in North America by Viz Media on September 9, 2007.

The plot of the manga diverges from the film in that it features the three fighters, Gohan, Vegeta, and Piccolo, gaining energy from the "Core" to form "Super Buu" as opposed to combining with the "Ultimate "Super Saiyan"" for a fusion.

The manga also introduces the villains Rodize and Melfice, as well as providing backstory on the Beerus and God of Destruction Beerus.

The manga's ending differs from the film's, as the brothers are not reunited and do not travel together to defeat God of Destruction Beerus and save the Earth.

The manga's final chapter features Goku killing Buu and saving his brother Gohan.

Toriyama has stated that he chose not to include the final battle scene in order to end the manga story on a positive note.

The second manga adaptation, titled "", was serialized in "Weekly Shōnen Jump" from October 17, 2006 to November 6, 2007.
