It's time to travel from Nepal to India via the Himalayan mountains. Traveling from Kathmandu to Dharan takes about 19 hours via Narayani Express and then onto Maitigharghat train station where you'll have to take a bus to Dhangadhi, about 6-7 hours away. On your way back, we recommend taking a trip to Chitwan National Park where you can watch elephants bathing in rivers and visit some local tea shops.

1. Kathmandu to Dhangadhilux bus
Dhangadhihi is located at a distance of about 1 hour from Kathmandu. This is one of the best ways to travel from Kathmandu to Dhankadhi. You can take this service everyday except on Saturday and Sunday. Bus starts at 9 am and reaches Dhangadhihi 12 pm. Return trip leaves for Dhangadhihi from Dharan at 10 am daily. The fare ranges between Rs. 30-50.
2. Kathmandu to Dharan
This is the cheapest way to get around Nepal. There are plenty of buses leaving from different parts of Kathmandu. However, you need to book your ticket well in advance. The return trips leave early morning (6 am) and reach Dhankadhi at 7:30 pm. The fares range between Rs. 20 and Rs. 60.
